See the sunset trek & camp night
    1. Afternoon arrival

Meet us in Merzouga, leave your big bags at the guesthouse and drink mint tea in the shade while the heat drops. Pack a scarf for the wind.

    2. Sunset camel ride

About an hour and a half across Erg Chebbi, single file behind your guide. We stop on a ridge to watch the dunes go from gold to copper to violet.

    3. Dinner and drums

Harira soup, a slow-cooked tajine and fruit, then the drums come out around the fire. Someone will hand you a darbuka. Play along.

    4. Stargazing

No towns, no light, no noise. Lie on a blanket on the cool sand and let your eyes adjust until the Milky Way shows up overhead.

    5. Sunrise on the dunes

We wake you before dawn to climb a dune and watch the first light hit the sand, then breakfast at camp and the camel ride back to Merzouga.

    Honest Guys

Mustafa and Mohammed are incredible people, they descent from the a nomad family and the live according to his traditional way of life. If you pay attention you will be able to understand things in a different way, they are also really good with camels and the dunes so for sure they are right ones to go for if you are around in the Erg, specially because they are fun, honest and hard working people, I have a really great experience with them.

      Questions, answered

The questions we hear most. There are many more answers on our FAQ page, or ask us directly.

      Is Merzouga safe for travelers?

Yes. Merzouga is a small, welcoming village that lives from tourism, and the dunes of Erg Chebbi are visited by thousands of travelers every year. You are with our local team from pick-up to drop-off, and our guides grew up in these dunes.

      Can children ride camels?

Yes. Camels are calm, and a guide leads every camel on foot. Young children usually ride with a parent. For very small children we can shorten the ride or reach the camp by 4x4.

Is there electricity and Wi-Fi at the camp?

The camp runs on solar power: there is lighting and a place to charge phones. Wi-Fi in the dunes is limited, which most guests end up enjoying. Luxury tents have their own sockets.

What if I'm vegetarian or have allergies?

No problem. Tell us when you book and our cooks will prepare vegetarian, vegan or allergy-friendly tajines, salads and soups. Moroccan food is easy to adapt.

How long is the camel ride, and is it comfortable?

The ride to camp takes about 1 to 1.5 hours each way. The saddle is padded and the pace is slow. If you have back problems you can walk part of the way or travel to camp by 4x4.

When is the best time to visit the Sahara?

Spring (March to May) and autumn (October and November) are ideal, with warm days and mild nights. Summer days are very hot, so treks start late in the afternoon. Winter days are sunny but desert nights are cold, and we give you extra blankets.

Can you pick us up in Marrakech or Fes?

Yes. Our multi-day tours start with a pick-up from your riad or hotel in Marrakech or Fes, and we can also start from Ouarzazate, Errachidia or other cities on request.

Can we book a private tour or a private tent?

Yes. Every tour can be private, with your own driver and guide, and every guest group sleeps in its own tent. Message us on WhatsApp with your dates and we will plan it with you.
